March of a Million Mothers

Dear colleagues and friends

You may already have learned of the Mother's Against Violence (MAV) plans for a March of a Million Mothers (MMM) on 23rd August 2009 in Leeds. Support of this march is crucial to the aim of inviting people from all levels of society to stand together to symbolically reclaim our city from the sort of fragmentation that has led to the tragic rise in gun and knife culture the march seeks to reverse.

Mothers Against Violence (MAV) is a voluntary group Founded by Patsy Mckie from Manchester after the death of her son. Pat Regan met Pasty after her son’s death and she gave her the inspiration to begin the same work and support throughout Yorkshire, so MAV is now a national organisation with offices in Manchester, Liverpool, London and Leeds which comprised of mothers who have been affected in some way by gun violence.

Support offered by MAV is education for those involved in gangs and violent crime. They work closely within their community, building strong relationships with individuals and families and helping them to understand the effects of violence. Below are the main points of what they do and if you would like more information then please get in touch withpatsymckie@hotmail.com

  • Education out of crime
  • Partnership working
  • Support to individuals and families
  • Forging links
  • Building bridges
  • Changing lives

On 23rd August 2009, between 14.00hrs and 17.30Hrs, we are asking people to march to reclaim own communities for the good of all who live in them. In Manchester, for example, they will have a march from the town hall around the city, while a cavalcade of supporters will badge up their motorcycles and vehicles to ride around the outer ring-road surrounding our city.

Can you help us take this forward, my friend?

MAV would very much appreciate any support you could offer in promoting and organising this major initiative that will get a million Mums (and hopefully as many Dads) out on the streets this summer to show their commitment to improving the lives of young people. People of all ages and backgrounds will be working  together in a global network of local communities to show the strength of compassion for and commitment to young people. Needless to say, time is of the essence and if you are in receipt of this message I believe you will want to get involved.

Well, here's how:

Things to think about:
Fund raising/contribution in-kind, volunteering
Press releases
Networking partners with event experience to coordinate or take a lead for the event
Inspirational speakers
Showing solidarity
Continuing the momentum

Want to get involved?
I knew you would. That's why you're so lovable.

Here's how:

Please could you circulate the information widely via your contacts. Get in touch with Raquel Silvestre or myself Marva Pryce here at Leeds Voice to further develop this initiative.

Thanks in advance for your support - which I know will be amazing.

Business Barge Tonight!

Hello All!

We hope everyone has been enjoying the recent sun! We're pleased to announce the next UK Inventure networking event on Tuesday 7th as THE BUSINESS BARGE! This free event will allow 40 lucky people to come on board a canal boat this Tuesday, which will take them for a 2 hour ride down the Leeds canal (and we're throwing in some free drinks too!)

This is going to be a FAB event and as with all events, tickets are completely free and will be given out on a first come first served basis. Some basic details of the event can be found below:

Event: The Business Barge
Date: Tuesday 7th July 2009
Times: We are meeting at the cross-quays pub (http://www.the-crosskeys.com/find-us.htm) at 6:00pm and when everyone has arrived we will be walking down to the boat which is a 5 min walk away. For those who can't make it for 6:00pm you can meet us directly at the boat for 7:30pm (a map can be found at http://www.tripboat.co.uk/location.html). After the event (for those who want to) we'll be heading back to the cross quays for further drinks/networking

TO BOOK: visit http://www.ukinventure.com/events/details/19-The%20Business%20Barge.html for full details, then email tickets@ukinventure.com with your name, number and business name (if you have one). You are free to bring as many colleagues/friends along as you like but please include their details too when you email us.

For those of you who aren't familiar with Inventure... Inventure is essentially business networking, but not as you know it! Our zany events are open to all ages and anyone with an interest and passion for business. All events are held on the first Tuesday of every month, are always free and are very informal and relaxed, which is why we attract such a great group of people to our events!

We'd like to give a big thanks to a few organisations for sponsoring this event including:

Year End Accounting  (http://www.yearendaccounting.co.uk/), The Leeds Met CETL (http://www.lmu.ac.uk/enterprise/) and The Camberwell Project (http://www.cause-an-effect.co.uk/) who all provided massive support in helping to put this event on.

We hope to see you on Tuesday and if you have any questions or need help finding us, call Jason on 07769553545

Regards,

Join us at our next myCatalyst™ Business Generating event

Friday 31st July, 2.00pm-4.00pm at Hillside*
Good Design - a Luxury or a Necessity?

OK, so there’s a bit of a down-turn in the economy; the odd banker is a tad worried about his pension; the economists are scratching their heads and maybe the Estate Agents are having to do a bit more work to make a living, but the world of commerce and industry hasn’t stopped.

There is still great competition in the market place and there are always people buying things. We all still need to eat, wear clothes, use electricity, drive cars and hopefully, go on holiday.

  • So how do you get noticed over and above your competitors?

  • How can you make sure your brand is seen, recognised and understood by your customers, whether they are trade or consumers?

 www.printideas.co.uk

Nick Wayne, director of Print Ideas, takes a look at the idea of “Good Design” in terms of branding. This will be a ‘snapshot’ of what is considered “good design” and will give you the opportunity to discuss and debate with him, some of the principles of what he is presenting as “good design”.

This should be a lively, entertaining and informative presentation and audience participation will be encouraged!

Agenda:

2.00pm Reception, coffee and general networking
2.15pm Workshop  'Good Design –a Luxury or a Necessity'
3.00pm Networking - an opportunity to  identify new business introductions

myBreakfast at myCatalyst™

myCatalyst™ member Nick Wayne has started a myBreakfast event at Shine

myCatalyst™.  This event is designed to be an easy introduction to networking and a chance for myCatalyst™ members to get together and help each other with advice and feedback.  If you're interested in joining the group, contact Wendy Smith (wendy@my-catalyst.co.uk, 07872 694804).

Good Morning!

Just a reminder that the next MyBreakfast event will be at Shine on Tuesday next week, 16th June starting at 7.00am.

We are delighted that Una Doyle has agreed to give the first of our 10 minute presentations and she will be starting at 7.15. This will be followed by a 10 minute discussion / critique on what Una had to say and how it was put over - I don't think we'll have a great deal to criticise, Una is a seasoned presenter and I'm sure we'll all get a lot from her presentation.

Please remember to let me know on Friday this week if you are going to come as I need to arrange for the breakfasts and please bring your £10 with you on Tuesday.

Looking forward to seeing you all again.

Kind regards

Nick

Chief Beetle needed!

Please see below request from Fran:

We need someone to organise a Beetle Drive (in which teams of people get together to compete to win a prize)
Drum up some support for the event/get a team together - to take place on 29th May at Beeston Library
Be the point of contact for the event, and person to buy tickets for the event from (tickets are £1 each) - try to sell some tickets for the event
Let the caterer know how many people have bought tickets and are attending
Be at the event to make sure it runs smoothly.

Expenses will be paid for by Holbeck Urban Village, and Leanne Buchan can support the person on the tasks above - but it should  be pretty light work really.
We're looking for a really upbeat and confident person to take this on and be our Chief Beetle. The other Chief Beetles include Jeremy Morton of Hillside...

If anyone's interested, please let me know asap or they can contact Leanne direct (leanne.buchan@locateinleeds.co.uk Tel: 0113 220 6350

Breakfast Networking @ Hillside myCatalyst(TM)

TopbbHi, I would like to invite you to our networking meeting…

Leeds Business Networking (Beeston)

Leeds business Networking is unique in many ways that you could only assess from visiting us, which would only cost you £10 including a full breakfast. Our membership prices are only £195 per year for full membership with no joining costs, our competitive prices are because I already run a business and I wanted to create a quality networking group that helps business’s and prospective businesses to become involved in networking in a comfortable environment. Look up our established sister group at www.LeedsBusinessForum.co.uk

Within our meetings we have networking introduction & training, role plays and business advice. Our meetings start 7.00am onward with freeform networking, with a full breakfast being served around 7.30 which is our “official” start time. Then it's around a table for the formal part which includes handing out cards and a few minutes opportunity for you to explain who you are, what you do, your Unique Attribute or USP, and your target audience, in which ever way you feel happy with. We have a full agenda until 9.00 when we officially stop, however networking continues as needed after that time. We are also planning separate one off daytime events with a variety of themes as well as panel advice events.

The venue is at Hillside my Catalyst TM (the site of the old primary school) Beeston Road Leeds LS11 8ND.

We meet every other week and our next two meetings are on the 8th & 22nd of May.

Please let me know if you'd able to come or not by emailing me on briannewton@thinkpositive.co.uk or ringing me on 07818021272, so we can tailor our catering requirements.

It would be great to see you, and hope you will soon be in a position to join us soon.

April’s myCatalyst™ event!

Join us at our next Business Generating event

MyCatalyst-Logo- small

Hello!

I would like to invite you to April’s myCatalyst™ event!

How You Can  Create Cash Generating Ads in Less Than Thirty Minutes, That Even The Millionaire Marketing Gurus Will Envy’

Friday 24th April 2.00pm-4.00pm at Rise*

Do you want to get more business in your target market?

You see the credit crunch is starting to show its ugly Snarl, biting hard into every high street in the Land…

Before it gets better there’s going to be a lot of casualties, Well that’s if you BELIEVE the doom and gloom merchants

To a point, it’s true; But they’re forgetting ONE Important FACT

You see people still need to and WANT to buy…Buying and Selling is the lifeline of all major economies

So what’s changed? Market attitude has; Yes it’s become more nervous, cautious, cynical and demanding

BUT the Market STILL wants to BUY

So keeping that in mind…How Do You Get Your Market to Buy From YOU, whether it is on the internet or not

Well…That’s exactly what you will see this afternoon

ALL I ask is that you come with an OPEN mind. For thirty minutes forget EVERYTHING you Know about Marketing and what your English teacher taught you

You will be armed with everything that has PROVED to generate sales copy that SELLS

In fact a recent campaign generated 45% NEW Business in February using these methods:

·       The two ad Factors that gets choosy buyers to Prefer YOU

·       The Three absolutes of any Sales letter (don’t have these and you may as well flush your cash down the Loo)

·       Why 99% of ads LOSE 90% of their target market in 3 seconds. You’ll soon know how to avoid that

One More IMPORTANT point, the event is strictly a ONE-OFF; It WILL NOT be run again

Look forward to seeing you prosper even more
 Saleem Shafi, Managing Director
Pinpoint Response

NOT ANOTHER NETWORKING GROUP!

No, this one is very different for a number of excellent reasons, there is:

• No commitment to come to every meeting
• No pressure to pass on referrals – genuine or made up!
• No public speaking
• Relaxed informal atmosphere
• No breaking into the working day
• It’s actually going to be a really nice breakfast!

This networking group will be run by the people coming, for the benefit of each other and their businesses. Each of the attendees will be a Cat 25 member of myCatalystTM and therefore committed to working together.

The meetings will be held every other Tuesday of the month starting on 21st April at 7.00am and finishing no later than 8.30am. All the meetings will be held at myCatalystTM Shine, Harehills Road, Leeds LS8 5HS

Please come along to this first meeting at no cost where we will determine how the meetings progress and what type of activities we will have. The overriding message is that there is no pressure or commitment. We just want to use these meetings to share our business experiences, help each other out and maybe, just maybe, pass on some business leads or contacts.

Looking forward to seeing you.

The group will be coordinated by Nick Wayne of Print Ideas.  If you are interested in continuing with this group after the first meeting you will need to amend your myCatalystTM membership from Cat 25 to Cat 25 Plus (just £15* extra for two group sessions including breakfast)

Please reply to: sally.marshall@cause-an-effect.co.uk  to register your interest for the first free session.

T. Harv Eker Seminar

Dear Catalyst network

Sorry for the short notice but thought you and your friends may appreciate the info enclosed, if you can’t make the seminar you can still benefit a lot if you register for free email lessons

You can have all the knowledge and skills in the world, but if your "blueprint" isn't set for success, you're financially doomed

" --T

.Harv Eker

I want to take this opportunity to introduce you to T. Harv Eker.He is a bestselling author and one of the world's top trainers. His newest book, Secrets of the Millionaire Mind™, is a publishing phenomenon, reaching #1 on the NY Times, Wall Street Journal and USA Today bestseller lists in its first week out! In the book, Harv reveals 17 specific ways that RICH people think and act differently from POOR and MIDDLE-CLASS people.

The book is a brilliant yet quick read.I am attending this seminar next weekend and it has a fantastic reputation for changing peoples attitudes to financial success. I thought all the people working for you would appreciate hearing about it. Please can you forward this to everyone asap, The seminar may still have places available at discounted rates. Even if they do not go I have received a wealth of free info from them by email which is an excellent standard and helpful in it’s own right.

The event hosted by Success Resources, provides all the tools to be successful in ALL aspects of life, especially in the financial arena!

I have been given access to a recording of a e-Seminar he hosted where he describes his foolproof methods for financial success. I'm sending you the link because I have heard the seminar really works and I'd like to see you benefit too...

Click here to listen to T. Harv Eker's eSeminar:http://www.harveker.co.uk/eseminar

Simply put, Harv teaches people how to master the "inner game" of wealth in order to create outward success.

Harv seems to have a personal mission to help people realize their full potential by applying the principles he struggled to learn the hard way. These principles got him from broke to millionaire in only two and-a-half years, so I figure if he can do it, so can I. If you can grasp even a few of the principles of success he outlines, you too, can achieve financial freedom.

One of the things you will learn from the seminar is that the most powerful truths are simple and indestructible; you can use them to create a foundation upon which to build your own "rich life," no matter how much or how little success you have experienced up until now. And a "rich life" is about more than just money...

You can transform your life from the inside out...

Find out how!

Enjoy..

T.

Harv Eker's Millionaire Mind Intensive is not a typical seminar where you sit and listen, but you actually apply what you learn during the seminar. When you do it the information becomes real. Apart from that, you are immersed for 3 full days in an environment where you get to truly focus on the most important part of your life which is YOU! Just spending 3 days in that environment is worth the money three times over

Q: Millionaire Mind Intensive makes a lot of 'promises' about changing my life. Is this really possible that one event can change all these different areas of my life.

A: Yes it can, and if you go for it fully it most certainly will. During Millionaire Mind Intensive, T. Harv Eker focuses on the psychology of success and fulfillment. The skills, techniques and strategies you will be learning are all designed to target the 'cause' or the 'root' of it all which is your psychology and your mindset. After working with some of the most influential and successful people of our time T

.Harv Eker discovered the foundational key to success is not skill or talent, but psychology and mindset

success at anything in life is 80% psychology “ the 'mechanics for succeeding is the easy part

.

Q: What happens after the event? What if I can't stay motivated and loose my drive after the 'high' of the seminar?
A: It's only natural to come down after this event and that's why this website will be available to you.

We can put you in contact with people who are very proficient in what T. Harv Eker teaches. After this event there is ABSOLUTELY NO reason why you should not be achieving the goals you set at Millionaire Mind Intensive

Boss urges leaders to take risks in cold climate

Todd

A Yorkshire entrepreneur who has grown his business to a 22-strong team with a £1million turnover in less than three years will encourage his peers to take more risks at a Leeds Chamber event on March 26.

Todd Hannula CEO of Harehills-based Camberwell, which drives regeneration through social enterprise, is speaking at the Chamber’s quarterly networking lunch which runs from12pm-2pm.

The session at Shine, Harehills Road, Leeds – the venue is Camberwell’s award-winning £4.5m enterprise centre incorporating conferencing, meeting rooms as well as pay-as-you-go business accommodation.

Hannula will draw on his experiences to demonstrate the risks he has taken and the benefits he has gained through eliminating the word ‘can’t’ from his vocabulary.

Leaving behind well-paid and prestigious corporate careers to move with his wife and child from the US to Yorkshire, Hannula teamed up with three fellow directors to establish Camberwell which has delivered regeneration and social enterprise projects worth more than £10m.
